The Poppy Appeal is an annual fundraising event where we remember and honour those who lost their lives or suffered through wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. Each year, current serving ADF members, volunteers, and RSL WA come together to fundraise in the City of Perth, TransPerth train stations, and other locations around Western Australia.
During the First World War, red poppies bloomed across the Western Front in northern France and Belgium. Over 295,000 Australians served there between March 1916 and November 1918. In this conflict, 46,000 Australians lost their lives, and more than 130,000 were wounded. The red poppy has since become a symbol of remembrance and support.
Your donation to the Poppy Appeal provides urgent financial assistance to veterans and their families facing hardship. Donations are distributed by RSLbWA, RSL Sub-Branches, and the WA Aged Sailor’s, Soldier’s, and Airmen’s Relief Trust Fund (WAASSARTF).
